On-Page SEO Basics Every WordPress Page Should Get Right

Before you think about link building, make sure each page states what it is, who it is for and what to do next.
One page, one job
Every page should be able to answer three questions in its first screen: what is this, who is it for, and what happens if I act. If a page tries to cover three services, it answers none of them convincingly and competes with your own other pages in search results.
The fundamentals worth checking
None of these are advanced. They are simply skipped often.
- — A unique title under about 60 characters that leads with the topic, not the brand.
- — A meta description under about 160 characters written as an invitation, not a keyword list.
- — Exactly one H1 that matches the page's actual subject, with H2s for real sections.
- — Descriptive alt text on meaningful images and none on decorative ones.
- — A canonical URL pointing at the page itself.
- — Structured data that matches the page type: Service, Article, FAQPage, BreadcrumbList.
Write for the question behind the search
Someone searching for a service wants scope, process, timeline and a way to ask a question. Give them those in that order and the page will naturally contain the language they searched with, without you having to force keywords into sentences.
